North Carolina

The 24 election cycle results
Number 1 North Carolina 65 Points
The 39 Trophy Champion for the 2024 election cycle is the great State of North Carolina. North Carolina is a repeat champion as they were the winners of the 2022 election cycle. Congratulations to all the Democrats in North Carolina who despite republican power grabs retained the title. North Carolina winning total was less than 2022 due to republican gerrymandering costing North Carolina three Democratic seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. This power grab not only hurt North Carolina but the nation itself. Had the three stolen seats remained in democratic hands, the nation would not be under the thumb of dear leader Donald Trump and his republican enablers. Voting matters and voting for Democrats helps everyone not just Democrats.
Congratulations:
Governor - Josh Stein Lt Governor - Rachel Hunt Attorney General- Jeff JacksonSecretary of State – Elaine Marshall U.S Representatives – Don Davis, Deborah Ross, Valerie Fousher, and Alma AdamsAll the State House and State Senate Democrats who were able to break the republican Super Majority in the Legislature. Keep up the good work. North Carolina could lose it # 1 rank in the 39 Trophy standing after the results of the November 2024 . NC lost points after the republicans gerrymandered the Democrats out of three US House seats. This immoral change also resulted in the US House remaining in republican control by 3 members. The exact number that were lost in North Carolina. Democratic US Senators 0 Democratic US Representatives 7 Democratic State Wide Office Holders 4 Democratic State Senate Seats 20 of 50 Democratic State House Seats 48 of 120 North Carolina Democratic Party Website: https://www.ncdp.org/contact/

Political Statements of Elected Officials

The North Carolina republican legislature continues to undermine the role of the voters with the override of Governor Roy Coopers veto of Senate Bill 382. They used their super majority power to make Senate Bill 382 the law in North Carolina. They sold out the people of Western North Carolina who were affected by Hurricane Helene by using this bill to get less funding than had been approved earlier with bipartsian support, they took away election protections, and they forced the new Attorney General to only defend laws that the legislature approved. The people of North Carolina will be forced to live under this shameful law unless the court reverses this purely politial power grab. It should be noted they only called the funding Hurricane Relief not Hurricane Helene Relief. Where will this money go? Also the republican super majority ends with the swearing in of the new legislature in January. Young people you must act to protect your future. https://webservices.ncleg.gov/ViewNewsFile/96/S382-CCSTC-8%20v12 Governor Elect Josh Stein states his priorities for governoring. He believes Climate Change is real and he will work to prepare NC infrasturture for the changing climate. He has pledged to lead in transition to clean energy. He will continue to defend women's rights and freedoms; wheather it's contraception, IVF, or abortation rights. He will increase funding for public schools. NC is currently ranked 49th our of 50 states for public eduction funding. There will be more support of HBCU in North Carolina. He will work to keep kids safe from gun violence . The 39 network has reached out to Governor Elect Stein for his position on DEI and more details on gun violence reduction policy. The 39 Network encourages all young people in North Carolina to help Governor Elect Stein to achieve all his goals. His goals will improve your futures. North Carolina ballot amendment to change the North Carolina Constitution to change wording of citizens voting from Every Citizen to Only Citizens can vote. Republican State Senator Brad Overcash describe the amendment change as a vote to ensure that a future Legislature could not change to the law to allow non-citizens to vote. This one word change would benefit the Republican Party. If Donald Trump was to become President again he has promised to issued an Executive Order to ban children born is the United States of illegal immigrants from automatically become US Citizens. This would lead to taking away a right from US Citizens. This is another example of Repbulicans taking away rights from US Citizens. What will be taken away next. The current Supreme Court is likely to side with Donald Trump and the Republians to take rights from another group, just as they took away a woman's rights to choose.

News for Thought

Chris Wright, Donald Trump's pick for Secretary of Energy does not believe Climate Change is taking place. What do the young people of Western NC think about this climate change denier? Young people get involved now while there is still time. North Carolina Supreme Court Election now favors Democratic Justice Allison Riggs over Republican Jefferson Griffin. Justice Allison leads by 623 votes out of 5.5 million cast. Young people every vote counts. Update: The recount is complete and Democratic Justice Allison Riggs still leads by the same margin. Republican Jefferson Griffin now wants to disallow legal votes until the numbers turn in his favor.
